Coast headlamp 800 lumens

The HL8R headlamp from Coast emits 800 bright lumens on the highest setting and can be adjusted to have either spotlight or floodlight, simply by twisting the head of the light. The headlight is powered by the included rechargeable battery, but it can also run on 4 x AA batteries that you can bring along in case you run out of power. There are 3 different brightness settings to toggle between, high, medium, and low. On the highest output, the light lasts for 4.5 hours, which is not bad at all. The long-lasting light comes with a price thou, as it has a big battery pack on the back with cords leading to the light. If this bulky solution is a turnoff, there are more alternatives without battery packs and cords in the best headlamps section. Video review of the Coast HL8R 800 lumens headlamp

Here is a video of the Coast headlamp in use, with some technical specifications and footage of the lamp in use. You can also see how the two battery packs work, if the rechargeable runs out, simply replace it with the other one that takes disposable AA batteries. This is a pretty nifty feature for longer night hikes

HL8R summary with current price and store page link

Great headlamp with a rating of 4.7 out of 5, from over 250 verified buyers. 800 lumens output with the ability to toggle between spotlight and floodlight with multiple brightness settings. The drawback here is the battery pack that goes on the back of the head, but that’s also what gives it a long runtime. Plus for being able to replace the battery pack with disposable AA batteries, in case you need to have light for a long time
